We decided on an alternative to the Unity Candle called the Sand Ceremony. We each had our colored sand - Michelle's is the white - and after our vows, we poured our respective sand into the single container, at which the pastor said, "As the grains of sand are now joined and can never be separated, so are your lives, forever."
